I've been investiagting mrtg / router2.cgi for the last 4-5 weeks - relatively small in terms of many. But there's one simple thing I would like to do that seems either extremely difficult or I'm looking to hard at the problem ?
Not meaning to teach granny how to suck eggs, but you would normally create a day graph (tall) for any device by :-
1. Selecting that device in the web front end.
2. Selecting the interface to graph.
3. Selecting the graph style and range (e.g. day and tall)
4. Router2.cgi does it's magic and generates xxxxxxx-d-n2.png
5. Web front end displays the .png file.
My question is this, how can I create the exact same graph (with the same style and range) automatically by either a command prompt line or by running a script ? (with a day graph for example, don't really care about the range other than the last 24h's from when the command/script is run)
I have examined a script on the mrtg website from a contributor which scripts daily storing of these files, but doesn't seem capable of producing them. I have also examined the rrdtool documentation - but not really any the wiser.
Is it possible for someone to post the script that router2.cgi itself runs through to create the graph when the interface link is clicked - or is it possible for someone to show me where I've obviously gone way off the tracks ?
Any help would be appreciated.
