| Post subject: | "Possible precedence problem" in BER.pm |
Hello guys! I'm building a little centre for monitoring my network, but when I try to add new device (following http://bmonday.com/articles/692.aspx "Adding Devices to MRTG" procedure) the PC (it runs windows XP) answer me in this way: C:\mrtg>c:\mrtg\perl\bin\perl c:/mrtg/mrtg/bin/mrtg --logging=mrtg.log c:/mrtg/mrtg/bin/192.168.1.1.cfg Possible precedence problem on bitwise | operator at :/mrtg/mrtg/bin\..\lib\mrtg2/BER.pm line 619. There are anybody that can help me to understand what it means??? Thanks in advance! Alfredo Speranza Network Manager Florence - Italy [ Subject line changed by moderator for clarity in archive ] |

Yes, this is a known problem that has already been FAQd in the MRTG mailing list. It is due to a combination of the updated BER.pm and your version of Perl. The newer versions of Perl query the precedence in the code, the older ones just happenned to work. You probably have perl 5.8? To solve this, you should upgrade your BER.pm to the latest version as shipped with MRTG For more details, look on the MRTG website, or the MRTG mailing list archives. Steve |
