Cheshire Cat Computing

Recently we migrated one of our links from a layer3 to a layer2 dot1q trunk.. and we run multiple services off it all as different vlans..

before the migration as layer3 they all graphed perfectly.. but now as layer 2 the main interface interconnect shows the total usage perfectly, but the individual layer2 vlans show hardly anything ?

ive rewalked, changed options etc, but no difference ..

is there any way of graphing these layer2 tails with the correct data showing ?

Well.. due to the 'overwhelming' response ive had, ive managed to do it differently, and move the interfaces onto one of our 7200's and graph them as subinterfaces again..

I guess noone here has ever done what youre asking about (or else they arent even sure exactly what it means )

This may be due to the way your particular hardware vendor implements the counters - Ive heard some subinterface situations will only graph a specific subset of traffic, for example, but I have no more details than that. I'd suggest looking on the mrtg.org site and see if anyone has sent Tobi a howto for your particular device and configuration?
