| Post subject: | Custom summary page (not graph) |
Hi Steve, I used to have a summary page (in version 2.14b5) defined by a separate config file summary.cfg ==========summary.cfg==================== routers.cgi*InMenu[_]: no routers.cgi*InOut[_]: no routers.cgi*InSummary[_]: no routers.cgi*InCompact[_]: no routers.cgi*Icon: summary-sm.gif routers.cgi*Desc: Internet Activity Summary routers.cgi*ShortDesc: Summary Include: /usr/local/mrtgweb/cfg/as17.cfg Include: /usr/local/mrtgweb/cfg/as1777.cfg Include: /usr/local/mrtgweb/cfg/as1710.cfg Include: /usr/local/mrtgweb/cfg/as1773.cfg routers.cgi*InSummary[AS17modems]: yes routers.cgi*InSummary[AS1777modems]: yes routers.cgi*InSummary[AS1710modems]: yes routers.cgi*InSummary[AS1773modems]: yes ==================End of summary.cfg================= It worked just the way I wanted - created a summary page with graphs and descriptions using targets defined in other config files. After I upgraded to version 2.15 without changing the config files I can't get back this summary page to work. WIth the config above I get one graph which apparently comes from the first target in the first included file. By deleting "routers.cgi*InSummary[_]: no" line in the summary.cfg I get summary page with ALL the targets from the included config files. After that I tried using "routers.cgi*Options[targetname]: ignore" and "routers.cgi*InSummary[targetname]: no" directives in summary.cfg to exclude unwanted targets but it didn't help. They all were their! Could you please help me to get back that summary page I had in the first place? Thanks. |

1) please upgrade to 2.15 (not the beta) and verify the problem still remains. 2) please email me a copy of the relevant config files so that I can duplicate it here. Since 2.14 the summary code has changed a bit (you can now have multiple userdefined summary groups) and so its possible that something is no longer working as before. Your example seems to be valid but I'd need to see the component .cfg files as well to be sure. The biggest problem is with the default operator [_] which can often work in unexpected (and undocumented) ways. Steve |

Here is the content of as17.cfg. The other config files have the same content (two defined targets) with different IP addresses. ================as17.cfg========================== routers.cgi*Desc: Network Access Server routers.cgi*ShortDesc: NAS Target[as17_Fa0_0]: #Fa0/0:public@as17: SetEnv[as17_Fa0_0]: MRTG_INT_IP="10.10.10.1" MRTG_INT_DESCR="FastEthernet0/0" MaxBytes[as17_Fa0_0]: 12500000 Title[as17_Fa0_0]: FE0/0 - Network Pipe PageTop[as17_Fa0_0]: <H1>FE0/0 - Network Pipe </H1> <TABLE> <TR><TD>System:</TD> <TD>AS17</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Maintainer:</TD> <TD></TD></TR> <TR><TD>Description:</TD><TD>FE0/0 - Network Pipe</TD></TR> <TR><TD>ifType:</TD> <TD>ethernetCsmacd (6)</TD></TR> <TR><TD>ifName:</TD> <TD>Fa0/0</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Max Speed:</TD> <TD>12.5 MBytes/s</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Ip:</TD> <TD>10.10.10.1</TD></TR> </TABLE> #Number of modems in use Target[AS17modems]: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.47.1.1.6.0&1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.47.1.1.7.0:public@10.10.10.2: MaxBytes[AS17modems]: 216 Title[AS17modems]: Modem Pool Activity Options[AS17modems]: growright, nopercent, integer, absolute, gauge Unscaled[AS17modems]: wmy ShortLegend[AS17modems]: Modems Ylegend[AS17modems]: Number of Modems Legend1[AS17modems]: Modems in Use Legend2[AS17modems]: Modems Available LegendI[AS17modems]: Modems in Use: LegendO[AS17modems]: Modems Available: PageTop[AS17modems]: <H1>Dialup Modem Pool Activity</H1> <TABLE> <TR><TD>IP:</TD><TD> Dialup Modem Pool Activity</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Description:</TD><TD>Modem Pool</TD></TR> </TABLE> =================================================== All I want is a summary page with 4 graphs based on [AS17**modems] targets without FE interface targets. I am not using beta version, I downloaded v2.15 yesterday. If there is a way to fix my problem or to achieve the same results using a different config directives - please, let me know. Thanks. |

I'm looking into this. One thing to point out is that you'll need to put the routers.cgi*Desc and routers.cgi*ShortDesc AFTER the Include lines, since otherwise they'll be overridden by the ones in the included files. This is a separste issue, though. The part you mention about the 'first target of the first file' is a known bug, it picks this if it cant find a legal default. It should give the 'none' page instead. However, you should still be able to select the Summary page. A workaround might be to explicitly have routers.cgi*InSummary[]: no for each of the targets you *don't* want in the summary. I'll let you know when I have some progress on duplicating this (similar configurations here are still working as expected). Are you sure that the 'Summary' option is no longer available on the side menu? Or is it there, just not defaulting correctly? |
