This is a directive that you add to the .cfg file, which is what you have done. However, you can do it differently -

At the top of every .cfg file, add a line like 'Include: global.conf'

Then, you can create a global.conf file which contains all the directives common to every file (such as this option, and the 'LogFormat:rrdtool' directive, and so on). You can override global settings later if necessary. This makes things more maintainable.
