Sorry about the amount of spam hitting us, particularly the stuff with the explicit images attached. I'm deleting it as fast as I can. I have no idea how the lowlives are managing to get in, there are several things in place to prevent spambots from registering. In the meantime, please try to ignore the rubbish and be understanding. Thanks, Steve |

Hooray, the new forum software and stricter rules look like they've killed off the spambots! Now we just wait for them to catch up again.

So I see I'll need to add one of those human questions... Unfortunately, it is apparently sweatchops of humans in China who are now being used to break captchas, so this might be difficult. |

I know this won't help for the human spammers but I recently saw a "video" anti-spam feature that played an advertisement while you read the anti-spam characters. I don't know if that was because it was free or because it was monetized by the forum. Sorry I don't remember exactly where I saw it. Just a thought...I know you are trying hard to keep them out. I just joined and am poking around to see what all is here and came across this. Jon OK I just found it... it was nuCaptcha at http://www.nucaptcha.com/ Hope that helps. |

Most (all?) of the forum spam seems to come from the spam-farms in China -- all humans. Even custom spam questions dont stop them (though they stop the automated general scripts). What seems to be working now is blacklisting *@yahoo.* and *@hotmail.com email addresses. There are a few other domains in China to block but its working |
