I am have gone through and installed routers2.pl and when I call the routers2.pl file through the browser I get in the main page ERROR "Cannot read config file e:\mrtg\wwwroot\routers2.conf" I have looked and the file is there. The only thing that may be a little different is that I am running RRDTool and MRTG on a different server than IIS and the e: is a mapped drive to the RRD/MRTG server. |

This error message usually means what it says, and is down to file permissions. Remember that unlike in UNIX, where a filesystem mount is globally visible, Windows does it on a per-user or even per-process basis. Remember that you must give read access to this file -- and the intervening directories -- to the web server process. If the file resides on a remote server, are you sure that drive E: is mapped for the web server process? You should really put the routers2.conf on the same server as the web service (there is no reason not to, and it improves speed!) You might also get problems with the .rrd files being remote (this will hit performance, and again you may not have access to the remote filesystem from the web server process) Steve |

I moved conf file to a local drive and changed the .pl file path and it finds it ok. Now if fails with can't find *.cfg files? I have the mapped drive mapped using an admin account and I have added everyone with full control and it still says it can't see the files. |

Are you running SELinux? If so, you need to make sure the web server process has red permission to the file in SELinux (and also to all the MRTG stuff and RRD files) Also makes sure that the web server process has read/execute permission to the parent directories of the place holding the routers2.conf, the MRTG .cfg files, and the RRD files. Use the verification page -- /cgi-bin/routers.cgi?page=verify -- to check your configuration as well, this can report a lot of issues more clearly. Check the web server error log which might help. |
