You have to enable RRD Archiving (see the extras directory in the Routers2 pack)
Basically, you need to use your scheduler of choice (eg, cron) to run the rrd-archive perl script nightly. This makes an archived copy of the RRD files which is picked up on by Routers2; the archived copies are pruned according to options in the routers2.conf and/or MRTG cfg files.
