| Post subject: | Graph Ping Response Results |
Steve, Once again, great work on a great product. I looked though some of your forum posts and also some internet posts. I am trying to decide whether it would be better to use smokeping or mrtg-ping-probe to display ping response times in routers2.cgi. Is there another program that would be better suited? What is the group's preference and what works best with routers2.cgi? I am only interested in graphing the response times of the router WAN links off in a hub and spoke type network. I do not want to have any remote probes in the remote routers. cheers, Warner |

SmokePing is stand-alone I believe. So as far as working with Routers2, you'd have to use mrtg-ping-probe. Smokeping is super snazzy but it is its own beast. |

Smokeping (a very good package) is standalone. If you want to see the graphs through the routers2 interface, you'll need to use mrtg-ping-probe. At least this way you can get the floating-bar max/min graphs like in the web site examples. An MRTG-generated ping times graph will not be as fully-featured as smokeping (since otherwise, why would Tobi have written smokeping?) but if your requirements are like ours, then it will fulfill your needs.
