Hi all, I've just recently built a new server to handle mrtg/rrd/routers2. I've set our granularity set pretty high (Interval: 0:05) in hopes that we could get some sub-1min graphs, but apparently that isn't possible. However, I've got routers2 working and displaying 6 hour graphs, along with the other usual views (week, month, year). Everything appears to be working well, except that I'm a bit confused about the peak entries on the daily graphs. I've got both ends of a connection monitored (our gateway router and our asa), but they list vastly different peaks. Our edge router: Our ASA: Any idea what would cause this disparity? |

Depending on the nature of the data, and your polling interval, it is possible that samples fall into different consolidation buckets on the two graphs, resulting in different data. However that should still result in the same totals and averages over time. Maybe the link has significant noise, or more load than the receiving end can handle, and packets are being dropped, resulting in resends -- so the sending end would show a higher octet count than the receiving end? |
