I'm new to unix, routers2, mrtg, the whole bit so i'm sure its something simple. I followed some instructions on the internet and got the sonicwall working pretty straightforward only a few hiccups. Great so I have 12 Netgear Prosafe switches in the building. I added the first switch, works perfect. Added the 3rd switch and I get "Error reading RRD database /var/www/mrtg/192.168.4.228_g15.rrd opening '/var/www/mrtg/192.168.4.228_g15.rrd': No such file or directory Check that MRTG has run successfully on this device, and has created the RRD file." The graphs do not get created. The config file is with the rest of them. I've added RunAsDaemon: yes and Interval: 5. For some reason i can only run 2 config files. I can delete the configs and graphs and load 2 other switches no problem. I know people use this to monitor quite a few devices but for some reason I can only get it to monitor 2. Thanks for any help! |

This message is what Routers2 gives when there is a RRDTool database for the graph. The RRDTool database is only created on the first successful run by MRTG against the target in question. So, you need to find out why MRTG is having problems running against this device. Possible reasons are that the device is down or unreachable; the community string is wrong; the ACL on the device blocks the MRTG host; you may need to wait 10min until the scheduled MRTG run happens; you may have incorrect permissions on the RRDTool directory and the rrd file cannot be created. |
