I’ve installed version 2.1.0 and everything is working great. I have one question I was hoping to find an answer for. When I go into a device being monitored, a Cisco 4506 for example, is there a way for me to label my interfaces other then the default “2/1, 2/10, etc…”? It would be great if it could read the description the switch from the switch and import it. Any help or some direction to go down would be great. I can do it from the config file but it's a long process for 250+ ports plus the change from time-to-time.

There are a couple of ways to do this.

I think there is a flag you can pass to cfgmaker that will do it (something liek -ifdesc=descr ?) but it doesnt always work.

I did it by modifying the cfgmaker program to add extra lines for routers2 to use for descriptions if it has the data available. If anyone wants a copy of our (heavily modified) cfgmaker then email me - but its based on v2.10.13 of cfgmaker.
