Hi, First off I would like to thank Mr Shipway for an awesome tool! I have just downloaded the event log agent and am using it with nagios. So far it is working great. However, I don't quite understand the concept of prioritizing the filters and I'm hoping that somesome can shed some light or provide a theoretical example of prioritizing? Thanks, Dan |

When a messages comes in, the agent works down the filter list until it finds the first match. This defines which alert (if any) is to be sent to the Nagios NSCA server. Therefore, the priority is important as you use it to exclude or select items from subsequent filters. |

Useful post -- there are a lotof issues with getting proper filtering of Eventlog data. The biggest issue with the Nagios agent at the moment, though, is supporting UTF8 encaded characters as it is currently ASCII-only. |
