I have installed the version 1.6.2 on some W2003-servers. At least one of them causes this in the log: Oct 14 12:53:06 lanko nsca[475]: Handling the connection... Oct 14 12:53:07 lanko nsca[475]: Received invalid packet type/version from client - possibly due to client using wrong password or crypto algorithm? And I am sure that I am using the right password, I have checked that a million times. I use as a crypto algorithm number 5, cast-256, but I have also tried other ones. Nothing seems to help with this particular server. But it is only with this one server. I have several other servers with the same agent-version and they do work ok. Really banged my head to the wall this time... |

The crypto algorithms all come from a third party library, whichis supposedly compatible... and the send_nsca code is copied from the send_nsca.c originally supplied with the NSCA daemon. It *should* work -- however, I have not been able to perform much testing on it. If possible, test with algorythm 1 (XOR) and 0 (none). If these do not work, then the problem may be with your NSCA daemon (I know they both work as I've tested extensively using them). If they *do* work, then the problem may be in the encryption library. Is there anyone else out there who has had it working? Unfortunately I will need to get unix encryption libraries to test it here (grumble, grumble, stupid USA export restrictions, grumble) Steve |
