| Post subject: | Summary and Compact Summary Features/Enhancements? |
I'm not sure if these are feature requests or things I overlooked in the help files, but here is what I am curious about. 1. Is it possible to mix target summarys with target compact summarys? It seems to be one or the other. I have explored the use of rrdbar.cgi, but am not sure how to impement it inside summary pages - short of hacking routers2.cgi (I saw the post on using rrdbar in the pagetop directive). 2. Is there any way of adding additional info to the default summary section? Are there additional options for custom summary pages (besides nodetail)? It sounds like there might be some enhancements in the current betas, but only see 2.17b4 available for download. I'm currently running 2.16 with rrdtool 1.2.13 and mrtg 2.14.4 on perl 5.8.8, is trying a beta more the right direction?? Where I am headed with this is, I like the summary page (and have tried some custom ones as well). I'm working on testing the set up of an all inclusive web site to monitor 6509's which already have about 190 interfaces (= graphs) and would like to add error monitoring to that - which will almost double that number and the summary on this test site is already a little overbearing as it is. I've already test built a user defined graph consolidating about 10 per target, error OIDs which is also overbearing on the summary page and would like to make it either just an icon to show the existance of errors on a particular target (similar to updown) or a bar graph showing the current errors (like rrdbar) on the summary page attached to each target (for compactness and better readability). Pagetop (and pagebottom) doesn't appear to be in effect for the summaries and I'm having trouble getting a user defined graph to show up on the compact summary (probably something I am doing wrong). Did I miss something in the help files about summary page or compact summary page customizations or would these be considered enhancements? |

1. It is not possible to mix a normal summary page (multiple graph images) with a compact summary page (multiple bar graphs). Currently, a summary is one or the other. 2. The only customisation you can do in summary pages is -- a) Remove the legends (the nodetails option) b) Remove inactive targets (2.17b5 and later, the active option) c) Specify which targets to be in the summary (userdefined summaries) It should be possible to specify the PageTop and PageFoot for summary pages, also, but I think this is not yet implemented I can see what you're after, and although the new active option will help a bit you probably need a more customisable summary page than is currently available. Maybe to have a mini-bar for graphA in the text frame next to graphB? Although, then you'd need to let the system know which graphs were associated with which... |
