I found another problem: The LIST parameter brings a list of Virtual Machines with state. But when a machine is powered off, the state is still up in the output of the check_esx2 tool.

Have you replaced both the check_esx2 and the vmware-stats programs?

Both were modified.

Also, it is possible that with ESX 3 the SNMP tree has changed and now indicates powered-down VMs in a different way. I only have the 2.x manual so I can't check this.

If you have some time on your hands (ha!) then one thing that would help would be a copy of:
1) /proc/vmware/sched/mem
2) /proc/vmware/sched/cpu
3) snmpwalk -v1 -cXXXX YYYY enterprises.6876 (for community XXXX and server YYYY)

This would at least allow me to run some more tests here.

Hi,

I use it for monitoring the esx server: CPU, Memory and the Virtual Server List (which doesn't recognize correctly the state, see posting above).

The Virtual Machines are directly monitored by nagios.

So the things I am using are working, exceptly the server list.
