This is not so simple as the OS does not collect these counts, it only collects per interface. The only ways I can think of to do it are: 1) You can use a network RMAN probe to collect the data and make it available to MRTG. These probes can be expensive though and out of the reach of small organisations 2) On a Linux box, you can use iptables to filter packets and then MRTG can view the rule byte counts to get this split. I have done this to monitor network traffic by individual workstation. 3) You could use a Linux box with tcpdump to probe the network and collect counts. This would require a fair amount of knowledge to set up though 4) You may be able to get per-website counts from your web server - Apache is able to provide more detailed statistics from mod_info and mod_status. You could then query these from MRTG to get the values to graph 5) Install many more network cards and run one site per interface! This is easy but of course if you have 50 sites it is not practical. However if you have eg 16 sites then 4 quad-port cards would be possible. |
