Does anyone have any host templates for the cfgmaker that will monitor printers HP and Canon? I am also looking for a way to monitor devices that do not support snmp, maybe a ping script? Thanks, |

If a device doesnt support SNMP, theres no point in creating a cfgmaker template for it -- cfgmaker is for generating cfg files for devices with SNMP. If a printer has SNMP support then thers no reason why you couldnt make a cfgmaker template for it, if you can identify which OIDs hold variables worth graphing. |

Steve, I am in the process of writing a cfg file to query the oids needed to acquire printer toner level, etc, but when I perform an snmpwalk -v1 -c on the device I do not see any of the supplies status. After further research I have found an oid that gives me the supplies information that I think I will need, but why would snmpwalk not show me this information? I will be writing several cfg files myself and am just wondering why I will need to lookup the oids needed from the vendor rather then just walking the device and discovering them myself. Thanks, |

Some OIDs may be only visible via SNMPv2, on devices which support SNMPv2. Also, some OIDs are not visible via snmpwalk due to strange behaviour of SNMP agents (and some are ONLY visible via snmpwalk). Finally, some SNMP agents may not fully support the full MIB. Finally, SNMPwalk will show you the OIDs, but without the MIB this cannot be converted to symbolic notation and doesnt give you much information as to what the data represent. I suggest you contact your printer manufacturer technical support, though this can be hard work with some vendors... |
