I have nsca setup on my nagios 1.2 box and I have the send_nsca setup on my windows 2k box correctly.

But when I try to setup the service in nagios using two different services definitions that I found as examples I am getting the following messsages.

And the windows machine keeps putting errors in the event log about missing dll's. I am able to telnet to my nagios box on port 5667 and get a bunch of weird characters to come back.

I am hoping that you can help me out.

Does the Windows host say *which* DLLs are missing? If so, please let me know.

You do not need send_nsca installed on the windows box, although it will not cause any problems.

You need to specify a check_command, even if it is null. We have a dummy check called 'ok' that returns status 0 (see the example)

Can you post the relevant services.cfg section exactly as in your file? The leading # characters I assume you added to highlight -- they shouldnt be in the real file.

It now appears to be working from the windows side because this morning I saw thes messages in in my /var/log/messages file on my nagios box.

but when I run the nagios pre-flight check I get a error about
Error: Service check command 'ok' specified in service 'Event Log' for host 'tech-dvd' not defined anywhere!

where do I put this command so I don't get the error and nagios can start correctly..

I figured out the command thing I think, I put a ok command in my chechcommands.cfg file with a null for the command and I ran a test message fro my windows box with a error condition and I did get a page about it but nagios is displaying this message now.

tech-dvd System EventLog CRITICAL 05-11-2005 10:16:03 0d 0h 8m 58s 1/1 (Return code of 127 is out of bounds - plugin may be missing)


Wondering if you had a clue?
