Hi,

I am a newbie to this application. It is great but complicated. I have been struggling with it for almost a week but still cannot make it work. :(

As most people did, I also get this kind of error message:

cannot find RRDs.pm in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.4/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.6 . /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.11/lib/perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi/ /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.11/lib/perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi

I have MRTG 2.12.2 and rrdtool-1.2.12 installed. I have defined the path by LibAdd in my mrtg config file.
how to ensure that the perl modules is installed properly??

Besides, is it a must to add this kind of line in mrtg config file?
routers.cgi*Graph[internet-router.1]: Combined nototal

Thanks.!!

The 'connot file RRDs' message comes when the RRDTool libraries cannot be correctly found. The error message tells you all the places that are being checked. It looks like the rrdtool library is included, but there may be other issues.

Have you UNISTANLLED the old rrd 1.0 libraries? If they were installed into site_perl there may be a problem.

This perl script may give helpful messages:

#!/usr/bin/perl
use RRDs;
print $RRDs::VERSION."\n";

The RRDTool documentation tell you how to install it - basically, I think you just do a 'make site-perl' to install into the site-perl path.

Since you seem to have the LibAdd correect ( it seems to have added the rrdtool directories to the path) then maybe they are not compiled or installed correctly? Check using the above script, and the RRDTool documentation. Is MRTG running correctly without errors still? Have you used the latest routers2 (earlier ones did not support the new rrdtool 1.2 functions)?

The routers.cgi*Graph directive is not compulsory. Read the documentation in the doc\MRTG_INFO file for all the details on the new .cfg file directives.

Hope this helps...

Hi steve,

thanks for your reply.
after running the perl script, i got this message:

RRDs object version 1.000491 does not match bootstrap parameter 1.2012 at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 253.

i have installed ttd libraries into site_perl according to the doc, and i am already using the latest routers2. Besides, i have already re-installed MRTG, rrdtool and routers2.

My MRTG is running correctly without errors, and after I added "LogFormat:rrdtool" in the cfg file, it can generate rrd files. Is that I don't need to change any part of my config file and routers2 can run properly??

Uninstall ALL rrdtool perl libraries you can find on your system, all RRDs.pm files and RRDs directories.

Then, reinstall the rrdtool 1.2 perl libraries.

If you get the 'cannot find RRDs' error message then, you should find the directory which contains RRDs.pm, and put this into a 'libadd = ' statement in the [web] section of the routers2.conf file.

hi steve,

I have uninstalled the rrdtool library and removed all related directories and installed again. I also added 'libadd = ' statement in the [web] section of the routers2.conf file, copied the RRDs.pm to all path the error message mentioned.
But I still got this error.
Any other things I may make it wrong?? :(
