If you add

routers.cgi*Options[xxx]: aspercent

then routers.cgi (and the gauge CGI) will render the values as percent of Maxbytes rather than as their actual values.

I having one weird issue, when the connection is at 100 percent the gauge changes from 1 -100 to 1 - 0.1 or something similar. any ideas?

Also, I thought this would be interesting to you. The xml/swf gauge has been replaced with a new product called "slickboard". I found this out when I tried to buy a license. I notice that you have to use <slickboard> instead of <gauge> in the cgi script for the xml code to be displayed. it almost works properly but the hole gauge twiches instead of the needles.

Attached is a picture of the gauge having the issue. Is it possible that because I'm using binary instead of decimal for my MaxBytes e.g. 1Mb = 1024 vs 1Mb = 1000, that is maybe why the last 95% to 100% are having this issue?

Also I noticed that every MRTG config example uses decimal values. 20MB = 20000000/8 = 2500000, when really data should be 20Mb = 20480000/8 = 2560000.

I've been trying to look at where to modify your cgi script to take these values into account, and at the same time make it compatible with slickboard. any insight???

The gauge calculates percentages relative to whatever MaxBytes is, so in fact this is independent of whatever you set the K size to be.

At the moment, Im updating the book to produce a 3rd Edition, with the changes for MRTG v2.16.4 and Routers2 v2.21. I'll also get an update for the slickboard as opposed to gauge.swf -- although for that, I'll need to update/modify the gaugexml.cgi script to fix the issue you mention, so it might take a while until I get the opportunity.

Hello Steve , Would you please publish 1st Edit. to 3rd Edit. Addenda ? Say in .pdf form (Or ?) , I'd gladly purchase these rather than a new edition with all the shipping involved .

Tia , JimL

I've been intending to do this, but in fact its actually rather awkward due to the way I've written it.

The original intention was to make a PDF of the 1st ed -> 2nd ed and of the 2nd ed -> 3rd ed changes, and make it freely downloadable from the forum, but its taken longer than I anticipatedv since I didn't make notes of WHAT I added or modified between the editions.

The changes from 2nd -> 3rd are mainly just the changes for MRTG 2.16.4 (cfgmaker parameters, and the RRDRowCount*[] directives) and Routers2 2.21 (%OID and %EXEC symbols). Also there is a bit more about increasing the accuracy of 95th Percentile calcs by correctly using the RRDRowCount directives.

See this thread viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4209 for details on the new updated version of gaugexml to work with slickboard.
