perl routers2.cgi -C gives the expected output.
perl routers.cgi -G > image.png gives the following:

Unknown option: G

finally looking for perl5 and rrd gives the following:

/usr/lib/perl5/auto/RRDs
/usr/lib/perl5/auto/RRDs/RRDs.bs
/usr/lib/perl5/auto/RRDs/RRDs.so
/usr/lib/perl5/RRDs.pm

I am really perplexed now ...

Looks like you are not running v2.17 if -G does not work. This was added in 2.17 - you may have an early beta or previous version.

If your message you said 'routers2.cgi' for one of them and 'routers.cgi' for the other. The current version is normally installed as 'routers2.cgi' -- do you have a copy of the old v1.x routers.cgi about? If so, probably you should remove it.

Try obtaining v2.17 and run this with the -G option and look for Perl/RRD errors.

I could have sworn i installed 2.17 using the install script that comes with it and updates.

Anyway, i did manage to find what the problem is: for some reason the .htaccess file in the graphs dir and being used for monitoring the aging of the graphs is not compatible with the version of apache that we are running anymore.

As a result of that, the errors in the log file clued me in.

I will monitor to see what is wrong with respect to the version issues.

Glad to hear you have the solution.

For future reference, can you tell me the version of Apache you are running, and maybe post a working version of the htaccess file here? The htaccess as shipped works with our apache (v2) but there's always changes....
